PURPOSE and Origins
Stewarding Afro-Jewish Traditions and History.
The Black Judaic Heritage Center (BJHC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, documenting, and educating the public about the history, culture, and religious traditions of Afro-Jewish communities. Our mission is to provide accurate representation, support scholarly research, and make Afro-Judaic heritage accessible through educational programs, digital platforms, and public engagement. By 2026, BJHC aims to expand its reach through a comprehensive website and online school, broaden its public programming, and extend its annual projects to museums and communities across the Commonwealth, with a national expansion plan within five years.

Mentors of Cultural Discovery
Through initiatives such as Collaborative research, Education & Outreach, Digital Resources and Community engagement, the Black Judaic Heritage Center illuminates the often overlooked, yet vital, aspect of Afro-Jewish history in the United States. We aim to promote inclusiveness, foster understanding, and celebrate the diversity of little known American cultural and religious identities.
